Can you believe it, mommas? Summer has come and gone, and just like that, we’re back in full swing with Dance Season 2025/2026 and gearing up for exciting dance conventions 2025/2026!! Every year, the start of the season feels like opening a brand-new chapter. There’s excitement, calendars filling up with events, and that familiar buzz of seeing our kids back in the studio and on the convention floor.
This year, we’re starting strong by heading to a couple of dance conventions on the East Coast. We’re trying some new events, but also heading back to a few favorites favorites that my daughter is excited to head back to which is Turn It Up Dance Convention. My daughter absolutely loved the energy there! She loved every session, but the contemporary combos especially lit her up. The choreography pushed her limits in the best way, and she walked away with new tools, new perspectives, and a deeper love for dance.
Last season, her personal goal was simple: give her all, soak up every lesson, and most importantly have fun. And she nailed it! As a bonus, she was thrilled to receive call outs in all the genres she took. 🙌 While those moments definitely boosted her confidence, I remind her often that call outs are not the ultimate measure of success. What matters most is that she grew, challenged herself, and enjoyed every moment. That’s the true gift of conventions, they encourage learning, getting out of your comfort zone, and joy over perfection.
For me, as a dance mom, conventions are one of my favorite parts of the season. Unlike competitions that often stretch across entire weekends, conventions are usually just a single day or two—but what a packed day it is! Back-to-back classes, nonstop dancing, and the chance to learn from top choreographers create such a vibrant, high-energy environment. Watching my daughter walk into the room full of dancers, absorb new choreography on the spot, and perform it with confidence always amazes me.
Like seriously by the time I’ve figured out the first eight-count in my head, they are already on to the ending pose 😂. I swear, the speed at which these kids can switch gears is mind-blowing.
Another thing I love about conventions is the variety. One moment dancers are diving into a sassy jazz routine, and the next they’re connecting deeply with contemporary movement or experimenting with hip hop styles. It keeps things fresh and pushes them out of their comfort zones. And even though the days are long, dancers leave with a sense of accomplishment and inspiration that lasts long after.
As we move into this season of dance conventions 2025/2026, I encourage all my fellow dance moms to embrace the convention experience. These events aren’t about costumes, hair, and makeup—they’re about growth, creativity, and fun. It’s a chance for our kids to take risks, try something new, and be reminded why they love to dance in the first place.
